Statement of doctrine

This is the full doctrinal statement adopted by New Life Community Church. A shorter summary is on our Beliefs page.

Article 1. Of the Scriptures

We believe the Bible, consisting of the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments, is the verbally inspired word of God, inerrant in its original writings, and the supreme and final authority in all matters of faith and practice.

Article 2. Of the true God

We believe there is one living and true God, infinite in perfection, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, equal in every divine perfection and executing distinct but harmonious roles in the work of redemption.

Article 3. Of the person and work of Christ

We believe Jesus Christ was begotten of the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, and is true God and true man. He died on the cross as a substitutionary sacrifice for sin, rose bodily from the dead, ascended to the Father and intercedes for his people.

Article 4. Of the Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, regenerates and indwells every believer at the moment of salvation, seals them for the day of redemption, and empowers them for holy living and service.

Article 5. Of humanity and sin

We believe every person is created in the image of God and that all have sinned and fall short of God's glory, leaving every person in need of salvation that they cannot achieve on their own.

Article 6. Of salvation

We believe salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. It is received by repentance and faith, not by works, sacraments or church membership, and it results in a transformed life.

Article 7. Of the church

We believe the local church is a body of baptized believers united for worship, instruction, fellowship, ordinances and the fulfillment of the Great Commission. Its ordinances are believer's baptism by immersion and the Lord's Supper.

Article 8. Of the Christian life

We believe every believer is called to grow in Christlikeness through Scripture, prayer, community and service, and to represent Christ with integrity in the home, workplace and community.

Article 9. Of last things

We believe in the personal, bodily return of Jesus Christ, the resurrection of the dead, the final judgment, eternal life for the redeemed and eternal separation for those who reject Christ.
